The methodologies we use, at the human level, to navigate our lives can often be boiled down to how we negotiate power. When we equate individuation with separation, in order for one to win, another must lose. The spiritual journey turns this way of thinking on its head and we find that what is gentle can be strong and what is done in service to the many, feeds the one. In this six-week series, we will reexamine the meaning of truth and power, ultimately discovering love’s true weight in the world.
“Reality met on its own terms demands absolute presence and absolute giving away, an ability to live on equal terms with the fleeting and the eternal, the hardly touchable and the fully possible; another identity, braver, more generous and more here than the one looking hungrily for the easy unearned answer.”
~ David Whyte
For many of us, our first impression of presence came from our earliest schoolteacher calling the roll in the beginning of each day. We learned at this early age that they wanted to know if we were physically there – perhaps the first of many times to come where being present physically was valued over mind and soul. As we grew older, we learned to negotiate full presence for safety, keeping the more tender places of self, hidden.
But we are truly available to the divine only to the extent that we live fully in our bodies, where our minds and souls runs out through the tips of our fingers and toes to greet the world – every part of our humanity and divinity shouting to the cosmos, amidst all manner of manifestations, I Am Here! I Am Here!
Join us as we discover together the true power of our presence in the world – the true power behind all of our doing, a braver identity within us, more generous, more whole and more here.
