Between Heaven and Earth: Praying from Wholeness

What if prayer is more than something we say or do? What if prayer arises from the wholeness of who we are?

In this two-week series, we will explore prayer as a living relationship between the seen and unseen, the human and Divine, Earth and Spirit. We’ll begin by expanding our understanding of the one who prays, discovering the many dimensions of our incarnate being – our personal self, our shared humanity, our belonging to the living Earth, and our transpersonal nature. Held together in love, these dimensions form the unique presence we bring to prayer.

From this foundation of wholeness, we’ll explore Unity’s Five-Step Prayer Process as a pathway into deeper communion with Divine Presence. Rather than reaching toward a distant God, we will discover prayer as conscious participation in the sacred movement of life – opening ourselves to receive, embody, and express the wisdom and love already present.

The One Who Prays: Discovering the Wholeness of Our Incarnate Being

“I am large, I contain multitudes.”
~ Walt Whitman, Song of Myself

Before we ask how to pray, perhaps there is another question worth exploring: “Who is the one who prays?” We often come to prayer through the concerns, hopes, fears, and desires of our everyday selves. Yet there is so much more to who we are. We are unique individuals, members of the human family, beings deeply woven into the living Earth, and spiritual beings participating in a reality larger than what we can see.

In this first message of our series, we’ll explore these dimensions of our incarnate being and the Presence that holds them together. Through reflection and experience, we’ll discover a more expansive sense of self, and perhaps prayer begins here – not by leaving any part of ourselves behind, but by welcoming it all into a larger embrace.

In a climate of great uncertainty, polarity of thinking and a crying out for healing on a global scale, our Sunday Experience offers the inspiring message that the fundamental nature of the Universe and all beings is Goodness and Love.

“Love is the energizing elixir of the Universe – the cause and effect of all Harmony”
~ Rumi

Our universal message honors the spiritual traditions while incorporating the teachings of leading age thinkers and philosophers.
