Go With the Flow: The Tao of Letting Go with Minister Emeritus Rev. Jim (Azaan) Lee
What if the thing standing between you and the life you’re imagining isn’t lack of effort – but too much of it?
Ancient Chinese wisdom has a name for the state where everything clicks, creativity flows, and right action happens effortlessly. They called it Wu Wei – effortless action. Not doing nothing. Doing everything from a place so aligned with life that struggle disappears.
Modern neuroscientists have a name for it, too. They call it Flow. And the research shows it is the state where human beings perform at their absolute highest – not by pushing harder, but by getting out of their own way.
This Sunday, we explore what these two traditions, separated by 2,500 years, discovered about the same truth. How to stop grabbing the river and start moving with it. How to want something fully without strangling it. And why nature, as Lao Tzu said, never hurries – yet everything gets accomplished.
Rev. Jim (Azaan) Lee Bio:
Rev. Jim (Azaan) Lee is Minister Emeritus of Unity of Las Vegas, having served in ministry for over 30 years trying to explain the unexplainable, love the unlovable (including himself), and pin point the infinite.
In 1994, he graduated from the Unity School of Religious Studies and proudly declared, “I’m done with school!” Life smiled gently and said, “We’ll see about that.” Decades later, he now finds himself in his second year of the Awakening Together Ministerial Preparation Program—proof that Spirit has a great sense of humor and a long memory.
Jim now lives in Ajijic, Mexico, where the roosters wake him up early enough to meditate. He serves on the Advisory Board of Awakening Heart Sangha, a nondual intentional community devoted to living from the awareness of love, unity, and truth.
His teachings weave together metaphysical Christianity and Eastern nondual wisdom, all grounded in one simple truth: what we’re seeking is already here, and always has been. You’ll often hear him remind others—with a smile—that awakening isn’t about getting somewhere, it’s about realizing you’ve never left.
